“Defining Destiny,” a drama concert embracing the 140 year history of Willow Hill School, will be performed on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 7:30 PM at Statesboro High School located at 10 Lester Road, Statesboro, Georgia. This event will benefit students of LEAP – LEADERSHIP EDUCATION ARTS PROGRAM, at the historic Willow Hill School in Portal, Georgia.
This drama and musical concert directed by Georgia Theater Hall of Fame inductee Mical Whitaker, will star Sandra Reaves-Phillips, an international actress-singer. Reaves-Phillips has starred on Broadway and theaters in RAISIN, ROLLIN'ON THE TOBA, LOW DOWN DIRTY BLUES, and LATE GREAT LADIES OF BLUES, JAZZ and GOSPEL; featured in films, LEAN ON ME and ROUND MIDNIGHT; and participated in CHRISTMAS AT THE VATICAN '99. This event also features Amir Jamal Toure; the Bethea Sisters; Alton West and local musicians; Banks Creek Primitive Baptist Church's Choir; Statesboro High School Choral and Theater students under the direction of Lisa Muldrew and Eddie Frazier; Corliss Reese, Director of the Charter Conservatory for Liberal Arts and Technology; and descendants of the original founders of Willow Hill School, Dr. Nkenge Jackson and Dr. Alvin Jackson.
