Implementing a meaningful Resident?s Rights program in your facilities is an ongoing challenge. Involvement of staff at all levels is essential, and administrators must ensure that caregivers are sensitive to the needs of their residents. This workshop will address the transition of institutional care and will examine the legal rights of nursing home residents. Participants will receive tips on how to really get to know the elders in their care and will discuss the best practices for changing perceptions of seniors. Implications for treatment as well as abuse and neglect issues will be reviewed, and attendees will come away better prepared for a state survey. The world of elder care has become much more competitive, and staff who are attuned to the issues of residents? rights will have an edge in today?s market. More importantly; the residents in your care will be more satisfied with their care and will have a much better quality of life.
